I am currently enjoying ales, such as Hobgoblin and Old Speckled/Crafty Hen.
I'm also partial to a Bishops Finger, but that's another story...

Carling is £1.90 a pint in my local. I'm happy with that. Tastes fine too.
I laid off the stronger beers when I had kids. Screaming babies and Stella don't mix well.

Guinness is my substitute beer - used to drink it when trapped into drinking in a shit pub by the need to be polite.
The upside of there being fewer cheap pubs is there are also very few really shit pubs without any decent beer at all, so this doesn't happen very often now.

Stella hits the spot, even though it's weaker now. Peroni is nice but tooooooo expensive Haven't seen red stripe on draft for years, but it will always be the dogs.

I like Guinness draught (preferably straight from the pump anywhere in Ireland!)
The cans of Guinness draught are ok (I have one every evening)
Its an acquired taste for old farts like me
I can't drink Guinness original in bottles or cans ~ It's vile. Whenever I've been given it as a gift by well-meaning people thinking I like any old Guinness I tend to use it to trap slugs
I like Stag when visiting the hot countries

Brewers Gold - Crouch Vale a great amber ale 4.0% (local to me) Any decent Trappist Beer ( in Belgium - not so good when bought in UK supermarkets)
If your around the High Wycombe area check out the Rebellion Brewery they produce a good number of seasonal cask ales, Roasted Nuts is their current Winter Warmer - that I am looking forward trying - assuming my son-in-law has got some in for my next visit. If your not in that vicinity look out for "Red" in bottles in some supermarkets not bad for bottled ale.
